Tucson Electric Power Company and Hudbay Minerals are planning to jointly construct the Santa Rita Substation. This joint project could result in residential ratepayers subsidizing Hudbay’s cost to connect the Copper World mine to TEP’s power grid. Sahuarita has known about this since at least March 12, and likely much sooner. We need to know when the town learned about it and why it hasn’t shared this information with the public.
