SAHUARITA, Ariz. (KVOA) – An environmental group in Southern Arizona is pushing back against allegations that three of its members confronted a Sahuarita Town Councilmember at his home last week.
The allegations center around claims that Councilmember Ed Lytle was confronted outside his home on Sept. 10 by three members of Save the Scenic Santa Ritas, a group that has been fighting the proposed Copper World Mine in the area.
Sahuarita Police said the department is putting extra patrols near Lytle’s home following the alleged incident.
John Dougherty is the Executive Director of Save The Scenic Santa Ritas. He denies anyone with the organization was involved in the alleged confrontation.
