This is water will can ill afford to use in such an extravagant way. Foreign interests have no place in our local economy. They have sufficient land for their purposes and Gov Hobbs should realize this. Hudbay will devastate the land ( a more appropriate term – rape the land) for short term gain and the beauty of our desert and mountains destroyed forever.
Take a look at the tailings in Green Valley. Not a great sight and time has not improved its appearance or land usage.
Giving permits to Hudbay to destroy the Sanctuary of the Santa Rita area is violation of all that is sacred . We do have a choice. Please say No .We hear so much about the shortage of water in our state and you are allowing them free rein .I believe people are being paid to let this happen. Please use your authority to stop the carnage. Thank you
Governor Hobbs,
The public auction of these public lands will be held against you by all the people in Southern Arizona which this sale will impact. Not only our generation but those to come will be affected by the pollution of our water and use of our valuable and critical resources.
My property backs up to Arizona experimental range a
Nd I will never vote for you again if you pass this a
Nd I will fight with others to stop you from running for position
Though water is the primary reason for NOT allowing the sale of State Trust Land, the other concerns are additional air pollution from wind events that turn our skies red, the destruction of our roads; particularly Sahuarita Road due to the shear numbers of trucks (estimated 40,000 per year) that will increase taxes to the local communities, county and state, as well as the increased potential for accidents particularly in an area that has a large senior population.
Dear Governor Hobbs,
It was my pleasure to remit Social Justice issues & current Tucson Community events to you at the Tucson House Gorman Construction construction project. This event was very much like the Santa Rita Mountain area mining operations that must sustain ongoing lawsuits BEFORE other State actions are confirmed to allow the project to proceed. Tucson’s Santa Rita Watershed will NEVER be replenished under Copper World’s current in ability to provide more than 3% of their CAP allotment with current water transfer capacity from the Marana recharge area.
I also understand that the Federal Government has encouraged “fast-tracking”, foreign proxy mining operations without regard to previous State authorized local subdivision plating that assurres a pre-existing right to ‘100 years of abundant ground water”, that is the only property necessity that sustains property values for family & local homeowners retirement investments.
Please Honor the State approved pre-existing local home owner subdivision water rights, current Indigenous unresolved environmental challenges, This auction action would be a, “Threatening Irreversible Harm”, to the sustained wildlife eco-systems that continue their research on sensitive adjoining State land.
Please suspend any/all inappropriate actions BEFORE current precedence local lawsuits are resolved, before a “FUTURE AUCTION STATE LANDS SALE REASSESSMENT DETERMINATION IS MADE!!!
Sincerely,
Jonathan Salvatierra
Dear Governor Hobbs, I live off of Sahuarita and Wilmot by the Santa Rita mountains. We get many species of birds, including rare Caracaras from Mexico. We have to sustain our community and our species to survive as humans. We already suffer from water shortages where we live. We have to shut down the well for hours to try to bring our well up. I can show u the txts that all the neighbors are in the group chat when we have to shut down our water. So please dont let the Data center open either on houghton…we need our water desperately and there shouldn’t be any data centers in deserts (period). Thank you for your time. Maria H.

It is making me sick. The air is bad
Stop this auction of our public lands. Hudbay is gobbling up land in other parts of the country as well.
Do not auction this critical land parcel to Whopper World! This mine will mutilate Metro Tucson!

I don’t want the state to auction our public land for a waste dump-terrible idea.
PLEASE – Do not auction land for copper mine or any other reason!

Destroying and desecrating the Santa Rita mountains is inexcusable. History will not be kind to anyone who contributes to this travesty.
