Dedication Ceremony for Richard E. Genser Starr Pass Trailhead in Tucson Mountains! Saturday, November 15, 2008
On September 9, 2008 the Pima County Board of Supervisors renamed the Starr Pass Trailhead to the Richard E. Genser Starr Pass Trailhead. The vote was unanimous, with all 5 Supervisors supporting!
As many of you know, Rich was an incredible force for conservation issues in Arizona, serving on the local and state Sierra Club executive committees, Chair of the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection, and also a huge supporter of the Save the Scenic Santa Ritas.
Rich died in February 2008. This is a fitting tribute to Rich, who we lost too, too early.
The dedication ceremony was held on Saturday, November 15th at 11 am at the trailhead. Speakers and refreshments were provided for all!
